Occupational safety

We attach particular importance to protecting the health of our employees. The primary aim of occupational health and safety is to prevent accidents and work-related illnesses.

Occupational safety makes an important contribution to this. Kurtz Ersa fulfills the legal requirements and safety standards for occupational health and safety at all sites. For example, we have two internal occupational safety specialists (FaSi) at our German sites and provide our managers with in-depth training on occupational safety. New employees take part in mandatory training, and employees with additional duties in occupational health and safety, such as company first aiders, fire safety officers and evacuation assistants, receive training and further training in line with the requirements.

Accidents are always systematically analyzed. In the case of reportable accidents, an accident analysis is carried out by the responsible manager. In addition, all logbook entries are evaluated, among other things to identify clusters at certain workplaces or during certain activities in good time and to take appropriate countermeasures if necessary.

 

Idea management

Idea management

Our employees are also involved in the process of sustainable development at Kurtz Ersa. An important, low-threshold means of this improvement process is our ideas management, where every employee can submit their own suggestions and point out unused potential.

Around 10% of the ideas received each year are directly related to the topic of sustainability. The majority of suggestions relate to typical development adjustments to optimize our machines and to improve assembly, production and administrative processes. Irrespective of their focus, we check all ideas for feasibility and cost-effectiveness and give the submitters a share of the resulting savings.

 

ISO 45001 certification

ISO 45001 certification

The number of sites with ISO 45001 certification is increasing continuously, especially internationally. The occupational health and safety management system is incorporated into our integrated management system (IMS), consisting of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001. By the end of 2024, a total of 8 out of 13 production, administration and logistics sites had been certified (7 in Germany, 1 in America), enabling us to integrate 76% of all international employees into our IMS.

Training and further education

A key factor in Kurtz Ersa´s success is its motivated, qualified and satisfied employees. We fulfill our role as a responsible employer with extensive measures and offers and create a working environment that promotes long-term retention in the company. After all, our employees make a significant contribution to Kurtz Ersa´s sustainable economic success with their day-to-day commitment.

To ensure that this remains the case in the future, the Hammer Academy was founded in 2016 as an educational platform. This is open to all employees and is dedicated to training and further education as well as the individual development of our employees. In this way, we create an environment in which specialists and managers are prepared for future challenges and see a long-term perspective in the company. The seminars and further training courses offered by the Hammer Academy are largely run by lecturers from the ranks of our own employees and managers and ensure the transfer of expertise within the Group.

Company health management

Kurtz Ersa has developed a range of offers to promote health-conscious behavior among employees. Our internal training and further education academy offers a comprehensive training program on sport and health, such as yoga courses, seminars on strengthening resilience and composure, and smoking cessation.

In cooperation with local health insurance companies, we hold annual health days at our German locations, which focus on providing information and advice on health-related topics. These generally consist of workshops, action days and events on the topic of health management.

The running and sporting events are also very popular with the workforce every year. In 2024, more than 100 running enthusiasts took part in the Wertheim trade fair run, which Kurtz Ersa supports as the main sponsor. Many motivated employees also take part in the annual company runs and the city cycling event “Stadtradeln”. In addition, Kurtz Ersa joined the “Jobrad” initiative in summer 2023 and thus supports healthy and environmentally conscious commuting by bike.

Safe products / customer safety

The safety of all products and services is a top priority for Kurtz Ersa. This applies in particular to commissioning, operation and production on our machines and systems. We make every effort to ensure the health and safety of our customers and to eliminate potential risks for everyone involved.

This basic idea also includes the safe handling of harmful and hazardous substances. As part of our material compliance, we try to avoid these and replace them with non-critical substances. Where this is not possible, we want to prevent their leakage or improper use under all circumstances so as not to expose people in the vicinity of the machines to any danger.

If, despite all precautionary measures, the health of our customers is endangered or impaired, we are prepared: Thanks to our detailed and always up-to-date crisis and safety management system, we can provide rapid and comprehensive assistance at any time.
