Kreuzwertheim – The Group´s progress in sustainability has paid off again this year. Compared to last year, we increased our overall score in the EcoVadis ESG rating by 4 points to 80 points, earning us the gold medal for the first time. As a result, Kurtz Ersa ranks among the top 2% of companies in our industry evaluated by EcoVadis in this year´s ESG rating!
In the five years since our initial participation in the ESG rating, we have continuously improved, achieving a jump in our overall score from an initial 48 points to our current 80 points and from a bronze to a gold medal. Our results in the four areas have improved by 33 points (Environment), 40 points (Labor and Human Rights), 21 points (Ethics), and 18 points (Sustainable Procurement). In the categories of environmental performance and labor and human rights, Kurtz Ersa maintained its position among the top 1% of companies in the same industry, scoring 93 and 90 points, respectively.
The foundation is our comprehensive and internationally developed sustainability strategy, GoGreen250. Our milestones include …
- our on-site electricity generation, which reached 30% by 2025. We generate electricity in Kreuzwertheim and Wertheim with our four photovoltaic systems and our combined heat and power plant in the logistics center.
- the conversion to 100% renewable electricity and 100% biogas at most of our German locations, as well as increasing energy efficiency and reducing our CO2 emissions.
- our compliance management system, which is continuously being developed and increasingly addresses issues such as corruption, data protection, and material compliance.
- projects such as the implementation of paper towel recycling or the selection of suppliers based on clearly defined sustainability criteria
- our voluntary sustainability reporting, which has been aligned with the CSRD since 2024 and, for the first time in the 2025 reporting year, includes the Group´s greenhouse gas emissions in the upstream and downstream value chains (Scope 3).
