Augmented reality (AR for short) is a computer-aided extension of human perception. Information from the digital world is superimposed on the human field of vision; in the best case, these superimpositions react/interact with the real objects. Due to the way it works, AR always requires a technical aid for visual augmentation, often glasses or displays coupled with cameras (e.g. in smartphones). A typical application would be to support service personnel by overlaying instructions with the real image of a machine.
