The press-fit technology is a solderless electromechanical joining technology between component and circuit board. For this purpose, a press-fit pin is pressed into a through-hole of the printed circuit board. Gas-tight connections are created at the contact points between the pin and the plated through-hole wall by means of intensive metallic contact (including cold welding). One of the joining partners must be deformed for this. The connection is considered to be very reliable, but requires a special process and places high demands on tolerances.
