We have the Hammerwein!

On May 21, 2026, the Kurtz Ersa Hammerwein selection took place for the twelfth time – an event that has long been firmly established and once again brought together numerous representatives from business, politics, and the public. Forty-six invited guests enjoyed a delightful evening at the historic manor house on the Eisenhammer.
Following a welcome address by Advisory Board Chairman Rainer Kurtz, Burkhard Hench, cellar master at the Hench Winery in Bürgstadt, opened the evening with an expert presentation on “Opportunities and Challenges in Sustainable Viticulture” and provided fascinating insights into current developments in the wine industry. The focus was on selecting the winner from among six nominated wines that an internal jury had shortlisted for the final round. The tasting was expertly guided by Konrad Michel (Burgkellerei Wertheim) and Peter Arnold, cellar master at the Fürst Löwenstein Winery. The experts guided the guests through the distinctive characteristics of the nominated wines with great expertise.
A six-course menu paired with the wines rounded out the culinary experience. After an intensive tasting, Rainer Kurtz ceremoniously announced the winner at 10:30 pm:
the 2025 Pinot Noir, white-pressed, from Weingut Hench.
The family-run winery in Bürgstadt has been EU-certified organic since 2013 and practices biodynamic viticulture. The oldest part of the winery, located in the center of Bürgstadt, dates back to 1563. The award-winning Hammerwein traditionally accompanies Kurtz Ersa throughout the year and is served at trade shows, internal events, and technology days.
